Once you are paired with your little (or littles) you will become that sister’s mentor in the sorority and hopefully their friend for life. I graduated college six years ago (yes I am old) and I am still friends with my sorority big and little. It is truly a bond that lasts a lifetime.
While this is an exciting time, I know first hand it can be stressful putting together the perfect basket for reveal day. I wanted everything to be perfect to give my little the best impression of our sorority and my sorority family. Back when I was in college, we had to craft and paint most of our gifts. We painted a lot of canvases, crafted sorority letters, and made our own pin boxes. What To Put In A Sorority Big Little Basket
A well crafted baskets need two things:
Sorority Necessities: Things that all members of your sorority should have. This includes shirts with your letters on them, pin boxes, letter bags, t-shirts, or wooden letters for her room.
Thoughtful gifts for your little: This includes gifts that you buy based on her likes. For example a candle with her favorite scent, her favorite candy, her favorite self-care items.
How To Figure Out What Your Little Likes
Our new member educator gave the new members little surveys to figure out their favorite nail polish color, drinks, candy, etc. This gave us some freebies and made shopping a little bit easier. For the rest of the basket ideas I suggest searching through her social media. Is she always posting about the Taylor Swift concert she went to this summer? Well put some Swifty gifts in her basket. Does she have a slight coffee addiction? Put in a Starbucks gift card or a tumbler in the basket.
You can also ask her friends or roommate what her likes are if they can keep your identity a secret!
